Millwood Arts Academy Time Schedule

One Campus:  Millwood students are expected to report directly to and remain on the campus of which they are assigned.  They are not to be on another campus without the permission of the principals involved.  Arts Academy students violating this rule will be disciplined by school administration.  In addition, students requiring transportations by means other than bus must be dropped off and picked up at the Arts Academy.  When high school students are providing the transportation, they are to remain in the automobile.  Arts Academy students may not walk over to the high school for a ride.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact the principals involved.

Arriving to School:  Students should not arrive on school grounds before 7:35 a.m. each day.  Students will enter the cafeteria door.  Students will not be allowed to go to their lockers, classroom, commons, office or any other part of the school before the first bell  without the principal or a teacher's permission. Absolutely no horseplay will be tolerated.  Students are not allowed to stand outside of the building at any time in the morning or during lunch.

Leaving School:  Students must have written/verbal permission to leave school from a parent/guardian under the following circumstances:  1.  Riding home on different bus; 2.  Riding home with a parent/guardian or an authorized person after riding the bus to school.  The written permission slip must be signed and turned in to the office before lunch or the student will ride on his/her regular bus.

Check In/Out Procedures:  Upon arriving late to school, a student must report to the main office immediately to obtain a slip to class.  Any student who has to leave school before the end of the school day is to check out in the main office.  Parents must accompany their child in and out of the main office.

Illness During School:  Parents are requested to provide an emergency telephone number in case a student becomes ill or has an accident.  A full0time school nurse is not employed by the Millwood Public School District.  A designated person will provide first aid and attempt to notify the parent or guardian.  If a student becomes will, that student may remain in class or call for parents to come and pick the student up from school.  If the school cannot reach the parent/guardian in an extreme emergency, EMSA or other emergency medical services may be called.  Expenses for emergency care will be directed tot eh parents or guardians.

Truancy:  Parents can be fined if they allow their children to remain absent from school without a legal excuse.  Children out of school can be detained by police officers and taken to the nearest truancy center.  Parents are advised that ten consecutive absences constitute truancy and will result in the student being dropped from the school's attendance register.  school officials must report truant students to the Office Department of Public Safety.

Cancellation of School:  In the event of severe weather or other emergencies, school may be cancelled.  Announcement of such a cancellation will be made no later than 6:00 a.m. on the day in question on television stations Channel 4, 5, 9, and 25; and on radio stations KTOK, WKY, and KEEBC.  An earlier notice will be given (such as the previous evening) when possible.  Days cancelled require adjustments in the calendar to meet state regulations for the number of days in school.
